On Thursday 16 January, the Yamagata University Co-op organised a mochi pounding event at the 100th Anniversary Hall in which international students also joined.
Through the pounding experience and eating the freshly-made mochi, students were able to learn and experience this traditional Japanese New Year custom hands-on.
