On Thursday, 29th September 2022, many international students joined a talk at the International Lounge in building 9 on how to prepare for disasters, particularly earthquakes.
A representative from the Yonezawa City Hall explained about the different natural disasters that can occur here. They showed a compilation video of the Great East Japan Earthquake that happened 11 years ago – through the different videos, we could understand the horror of earthquakes.

After the talk, all participants got on an earthquake simulator and were able to get a small taste of how a level 7 earthquake would feel like. It was a very valuable opportunity for us to think about the importance of preparing for emergencies and how to act in the event of an earthquake.
