On the day, the drill was attended by 12 international students who have been in Yonezawa less than one year.
At first, students were taught about how to use the equipment that shows when and where a fire occurs and how to use the fire doors.
After this, students practiced what to do if a fire breaks out, escaping from their rooms using the emergency stairway. They also learnt how to use the fire extinguishers and practiced with the extinguishers directly.
The firefighters instructed that in the case a fire breaks out, it is important to do 3 things: (1) try to suppress the fire, (2) inform other people in the vicinity, (3) call 119.
